Diablo 4 Patch Introduces Another Option to Get Unique Treasure

The most recent patch for Diablo 4 brings it to version 1.0.4 and includes a small number of issue fixes and a few gameplay tweaks. Those who have been frantically farming for a Unique item to complete their build will be delighted to learn that there is now another way to obtain them.

As stated in the patch notes –

“Helltide chests can now drop Unique items.”

If you were unaware that Helltide containers cannot contain Uniques, you are not alone. During the most recent Diablo developer update, Rod Fergusson, the general manager, confessed he was unaware that Helltide’s mystery chests were also not dropping Uniques.

Associate game director Joseph Piepiora said –

“We want to make sure that when players are trying to target farm for certain kinds of Uniques for their builds they need to grab in order to bring those things online that those […] Tortured Gifts that you get from Helltide are a really good opportunity to try and go for those.”

Once you reach Nightmare World Tier, Helltide events become available, turning a section of the map crimson to indicate that you can earn Aberrant Cinders by killing enemies in that zone. It is possible to use Aberrant Cinders to access Tortured Gift of Mystery chests, which have a chance to contain Sacred Items as well as other gear and a great deal of gold.

The addition of Uniques to their loot pool will make Helltides an even more desirable site to farm, which is a strange sentence now that I read it back. Previously, running Nightmare Dungeons and defeating world bosses on Torment difficulty or higher were the best methods to obtain Unique items.

We must determine whether the Helltides’ drop rate makes them a viable alternative. Season 1 is rumored to add super gems that enable “stupid, new broken builds” So this is something to anticipate.
