Discord on PS5 Release Date

New Starfield Release Date With Discord Voice Chat Support for PS5

The newest 7.0 update for the PlayStation 5 includes some highly anticipated features and quality-of-life enhancements. Here is all the information you need.

The addition of Discord integration is the most notable change. Discord’s Share Screen and cross-platform voice chats have been successfully beta tested, and now they’ll be available on PS5 consoles.

The update adds a number of new capabilities, including the capability to switch between fixed and variable refresh rates at 1440p. The term “variable refresh rate” (VRR) refers to the ability of a screen to alter the frequency with which an image is refreshed, ideally matching the pace at which a video game generates frames.

For instance, if it weren’t there, a screen would always refresh the visual at the same rate of 60 frames per second, even if the game itself was creating frames at a rate of anywhere from 30 to 60 frames per second. By matching the display’s refresh rate to the game’s frame rate, virtual-reality-rendering (VRR) improves the visual experience.

Please note that if you are utilizing the HDMI 2.1 cable that came with your PS5, as well as a display that supports VRR, you will be in compliance with this requirement.

This version now includes the ability to manually submit game captures to the PlayStation App, a “join game” icon in Party Chats, and a “friends who play” tile for viewing which games your friends are currently playing.

If you don’t have a PS5, but you do have an Xbox Series X or S, you may have been wondering when the new release date for Bethesda’s Starfield would be. As expected, the delay from November 22 last year has not occurred in the first half of this year.

Starfield will be available on PC and Xbox Series X and S on September 6, 2023, according to an official announcement made by Xbox and Bethesda. Companies around Xbox’s Developer Direct in January hinted at the existence of a Starfield Direct when additional details regarding the game would be revealed. This presentation at Starfield has been confirmed for June 11.

For those that follow the video game business closely, June 11 may seem suspiciously close to the date of Xbox’s regular yearly major presentation.

Are we only getting the Starfield Direct? That’s not the case! Just before that presentation, Xbox will be holding its showcase, where it will presumably reveal a plethora of games other than Starfield.

It’s anyone’s guesses what those games are, given by that time most of the brand’s major titles with release dates (with the exception of Starfield and Forza Motorsport) will have already launched.
