Is Ghosts of Tabor on Quest 2

Ghost of Tabor – Open Alpha for Tarkov Inspired VR Shooter

PC VR players who have been feeling left out after seeing some high-profile games come out on Sony’s PS VR2 in recent weeks will be happy to hear that their extraction-based shooter Ghosts of Tabor has started open alpha testing.

The VR-only game was heavily influenced by DayZ and the survival shooter Escape from Tarkov. It has both PVE and PVP battles set in a variety of different scenarios.

Extraction-based shooters have become popular thanks to games like Escape from Tarkov from 2017. These games combine the slow, methodical pace of tactical first-person shooters with game mechanics that are usually found in survival games.

In most extraction-based shooters, players don’t win rounds by having the highest kill-to-death ratio or by dominating the multiplayer scoreboards. Instead, they have to find, steal, and make weapons and equipment to stay alive against human or AI opponents.

When Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s DMZ mode came out at the end of last year, it had many elements of the popular hardcore-focused genre. Many players loved the new mode, which got rave reviews.

In a short video posted to Twitter by developer Combat Waffle Studios, it was announced that Ghosts of Tabor has officially started open alpha testing on PC –

The Ghosts of Tabor alpha test lets interested players try out the VR game’s take on crafting, looting, and survival, which have become staples of the extraction-based shooter genre.

Steam users can request access to the test from the game’s store page. The developers wanted to test the multiplayer servers before the game came out, so at the end of the video, they told players to enjoy shooting and looting, but “most importantly, break our game!”

Several gamers who had been keeping up with Ghosts of Tabor’s development thanked the team at Combat Waffle Studios for making it to open alpha. Many of the responses showed how excited people were to finally be able to try out the VR shooter for themselves.

However, some gamers who had pre-ordered the game for Meta Quest 2 and PS VR2 were disappointed to find out that the open alpha test is only for PC.

The developer told a commenter who asked when they could play the game on Sony’s new VR headset that they are “planning for a September PSVR 2 release.” Players on Meta Quest 2 will also have to wait until Ghosts of Tabor is fully out before jumping in.

Ghosts of Tabor could be a breath of fresh air for hard-core VR gamers who are tired of what seems like an endless stream of casual-focused content. It has tactical gunplay, survival mechanics, and the ability to craft and trade to build an epic arsenal.

And while it may be based on the flatscreen shooter, we hope that Ghosts of Tabor won’t have the same cheating problems as Escape from Tarkov. Ghosts of Tabor is being made for PC, Meta Quest 2, PICO, and PlayStation VR2 right now.
