Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Is Linked to Kang's Story

James Gunn Reveals Whether Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Is Linked to Kang’s Story

Fans have been asking what the Guardians of the Galaxy film Vol. 3 will mean for the future of the MCU. The film has been in the works for almost a decade. But director James Gunn says that the third and final Guardians of the Galaxy movie will have a story all its own.

The goal of the MCU has always been to set up the next big story. That hasn’t changed since the end of the Infinity Saga, because the new Multiverse Saga has been about Kang the Conqueror, the enemy who can move through time and other universes.

Kang’s new form was first shown at the season end of Loki. In Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a different Kang was the main bad guy. He will be back for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and will probably be a main character in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Do you know that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a famous game, but its multiplayer modes have been closely looked at for a number of reasons:

Gunn replied to a fan on Instagram who said they hoped Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would be a stand-alone story instead of focusing on Kang’s future.

The fan wrote –

“Please tell me this film is focused on the GOTG and not setting up more Kang stuff. I love Kang and the multiverse, but the GOTG franchise is my favorite in the MCU. Volume 2 still gives me goosebumps in that final battle, there’s just so much emotion.”

Gunn makes sure that the movie will wrap up the story of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Gunn said –

“‘Vol 3’ is about ending the story of these Guardians, not about setting up anything else. I don’t even know what’s going on with the other Marvel movies.”

Kang and his different forms are expected to show up in a number of Marvel Studios’ MCU movies and shows, even before the next two Avengers movies. Fans can’t help but check out every new MCU project to see how it fits into the bigger picture of the story. On the other hand, it’s nice to see an MCU movie that doesn’t try to set up things for the next one and instead just tells a full story.

After what happened in Thor: Love and Thunder and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Peter Quill and his team have to get used to life in Knowhere in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Quill is still upset about losing Gamora, but he has to get his team of oddballs together for another mission to protect the universe and one of their own from the High Evolutionary, a scientist who specializes in making hybrid creatures and who also made Rocket. The movie was shot from November 2021 to early May of last year.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 stars Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Will Poulter as Adam Warlock, Chukwudi Iwuji as High Evolutionary, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Groot, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri, Sylvester Stallone as Stakar Ogord and Maria Bakalova as Cosmo the Spacedog.

Daniela Melchior, who was in Suicide Squad, has been cast in a part that hasn’t been revealed yet. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 comes out in theaters on May 5, 2023.
