Amazon Games has announced its newest online partnership, with NCSoft, to bring Throne and Liberty to North America, South America, Europe, and Japan on PC, PlayStation and Xbox One Series X|S.
Throne and Liberty were first planned as a sequel to Lineage, but over the many years it has been in development, it has changed into a whole new series. It adds to Amazon’s growing collection of online games, which already includes New World and Lost Ark.
Christoph Hartmann, vice president of Amazon Games, praised NCSoft when he announced the deal. He also said that online games would continue to be a big part of the company’s plans going forward.
Harmann said in a statement (as reported by IGN) –
“Publishing games that live and grow over time remains a critical piece of our strategy, and delivering games of the highest quality from the world’s most talented developers is one of the cornerstones of our business. The last year has taught us a great deal about publishing and managing a successful live-service game on a global scale, and we’re ready to bring Throne and Liberty players an incredible experience at launch.”
Over the years, Throne and Liberty have had several closed betas and been delayed more than once. It will combine “story-driven adventure and action combat” with “constantly shifting geographical and environmental features that change the course of play,” and it will have both large-scale PvP and PvE combat.

Besides Throne and Liberty, Amazon Games is publishing the next Tomb Raider game from Crystal Dynamics and Blue Protocol from Bandai Namco Online. It’s all part of a plan to make the retail giant a serious rival in the gaming market.
It was once thought that Throne and Liberty would come out in the first half of 2023. Though at this time Amazon Games is not confirming any release date information.
